[Knoxville, TN – December 2025] — Weigel’s Family Christmas 2025 returns for its 28th year, continuing one of East Tennessee’s most cherished holiday traditions. This season, 300 children across the region will experience a holiday to remember thanks to the ongoing partnership between the Weigel’s Foundation, the Salvation Army, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley. Each child, ages five to eight, will receive $250 for a personalized shopping experience at Target, helping ensure every child feels the joy, independence, and excitement of a holiday filled with possibility.

With this year’s event, Weigel’s Family Christmas surpasses 5,300 children served since the program began in 1998.

A Tradition Rooted in Heart and Community

“What started as a small gesture to support local families has grown into something truly special,” said Bill Weigel, Chairman of Weigel’s. “The generosity of our volunteers, vendor partners, and community members is what makes this program possible year after year. It is a reminder of what the holidays are all about—hope, kindness, and caring for one another.”

A Day Filled With Joy, Memories, and Support

The celebration begins with a warm holiday breakfast at the Knoxville Expo Center before children and volunteers head to Target to shop for gifts. Weigel’s team members, many of whom return every year with their own families, help create a joyful and supportive environment for the children throughout the day.

“This program holds a special place in our hearts,” said Kurt Weigel, Training and Recruiting Director. “Seeing this many children light up with excitement is something you never forget. Growing to 300 kids this year shows just how meaningful this tradition has become for our entire community.”

Guests Drive Impact Through MyWeigel’s Rewards

Weigel’s once again invited guests to participate directly through the MyWeigel’s Rewards app, where members could donate 1,000 points for every $1 contributed to the Weigel’s Family Christmas Fund. To encourage engagement, Weigel’s deployed targeted push notifications, which led to a significant rise in community support.

During Weigel’s World Giving Day campaign—centered around driving donations for Family Christmas—the program saw a remarkable 2,000% increase in point donations, demonstrating the power of digital outreach and the generosity of the communities Weigel’s serves.

A Growing Tradition Supported by Trusted Partners

The Salvation Army and Boys & Girls Clubs continue to play an essential role in identifying the children who benefit most from this program. Their partnership ensures the Family Christmas tradition reaches families who need support during the holiday season.

From its start in 1998 with six children, Weigel’s Family Christmas has become one of East Tennessee’s most impactful holiday initiatives. Thanks to the support of Weigel’s team members, vendor partners, guests, and local organizations, the program continues to expand its reach and deepen its impact.
